The CD features not only a very individual version of the well-known football classic “You’ll never walk alone”, but also five songs performed by the American artist Amanda Somerville. Why not listen to the audio files and then help us to help people suffering from ALS by buying a CD.

Amanda’s life revolves around music. “Singing has been one of the natural things in my life, like breathing, since I was a kid. I grew up in a very musical family with very close ties to folk music,” says Amanda, singer and songwriter. She grew up listening to the music of Paul Simon, Jobim, John Denver, Harry Chapin and Carole King. Amanda Somerville moved from Flint (Michigan/USA) to Wolfsburg in 1999, and since then has spent most of her time working in either Germany or the United States.
Amanda has the gift of filling music with feeling, giving it significance in an era in which music seems to have developed into something almost utilitarian, an often misused medium. Her lyrics are strongly related to empathy, life-situations and emotions everyone knows. Amanda’s music creates its own landscape, inviting listeners to take a trip through a world full of emotions, enthusiasm and energy.

Amanda had been writing lyrics and poetry long before releasing her first album in autumn 2000. “In the beginning there was...” has eleven songs brimming over with excitement and emotions: all written and produced by Amanda. “There are no technical tricks, no sterile "artistic” sounds, in fact “In the Beginning there was...” is exactly what the title implies: beginning, a feeling of “simplify your life”.
The Benefit CD was released in autumn 2003 as the culmination of some great teamwork to support the Krzysztof Nowak-Foundation.
The football hymn, “You’ll never walk alone”, is of deep and special significance for all football fans and friends of Krzysztof Nowak. "That is why I recorded a very personal version of the song and chose it as the title track for this CD.” With the exception of the a cappella composition, all other songs, in which she unifies elements from pop, soul and blues, were written by Amanda and vocalised with her warm, expressive voice.
What Amanda says about the project: „ALS is also known as „Lou Gehrig’s Disease“. For many people these words don’t mean anything. With this CD I would like to give these words meaning and its victims a face. Music is medicine for the soul, but in this case so much more. "Never Alone" is my little attempt to help in the fight against ALS. Help is needed. Thank you for yours.”
